“I pack my bags” with Navid Nuur
Since Thursday of last week, the artist Navid Nuur has been a guest at Marta Herford. He is setting up his solo exhibition entitled „Navid Nuur – Hocus Focus“, which will open on Sunday, January 26 at 2 pm.
With his so-called „interimodules“ – objects that cause amazement and initiate a new way of thinking – Navid Nuur (*1976 in Tehran, Iran, lives in The Hague, NL) invites us to join him, this artistic „materials researcher“, on a journey to see the world with different eyes. For his stay of several days he brought along special objects that support him for his concentrated work on site:
“I like to experience the hand while an idea travels to the paper, a lot is happening. The 90 percent body language is still there, and there is more to read than what you write. Neither a phone nor a computer can provide you with this extra ‘message’ next to the message you are writing.”
“It’s more the glass in my sunglasses – they don’t dim the sun, but just take away the edge of white in the colors in public space which make me experience the true vibrancy of color much better and you see much more nuances which I do not want to miss.”
“I like to eat it a lot and it feels good to have it with me.”
“The green tea and the saffron are to make tea, sometimes with ginger. It’s what I drink at the studio and it puts me in a working mood where ever I go.”
“When I wear them outside the studio it makes the space where I am working feel like I am walking in my private studio. It makes that new space an extension of my studio, which helps me to do the setup with the same body concentration as being in my own studio.”
